The History of Sport Played in China's Treaty Ports

 Gordon Pennington Riach only started playing for Shanghai in mid January 1914. He was the fourth member of the Shanghai 1914 interport team that lost in Tientsin to be killed in the Great War. 
Born in Shanghai, he left it in May 1916 to travel to Europe, and died on 24 September 1918 in the Dardanelles.  

 He is buried in the Vadencourt British Cemetery, Maissemy, near St Quentin, France.
