Details about Samuel Archibald Wallace are sparse. He started playing rugby in Shanghai in December 1935 in the junior ranks. He worked his way into the first team culminating in his only interport game against Hong Kong in 1940.

  As a member of the volunteer reserve of the Royal Air Force, he died in Africa on 28 December 1945 aged 36 and was buried in Ghana
